I had the great displeasure of listening to a small portion of Rush Limbaugh’s show yesterday. The topic of the moment happened to be immigration reform. He presented some very “interesting” “statistics” to his audience that I found quite hilarious.
El Rushbo apperently had some recent poll statistics of Americans about their views on having a path to citizenship for our large immigrant population. According to him only 4% of us support this innitiative so any republican politician who is in support of this initiative is going against the will of the American people. I guess Mr. Limbaugh doesn’t know how to work the google machine.
Through a quick search I found multiple polls that show that consistantly over 50% of Americans are in support of immigration reform. It is even becoming a popular stance among republican voters. I guess I shouldn’t be to surprised by this since the facts never seem to interest right wing talk radio hosts that much.
I may tune in again today to have some more hearty laughs at Rush’s endless ineptitude.
Some dumbass I know on facebook just posted this stupid thing. I think we should just go over this and point out why each of these items is just plain idiotic.
The top part is dominated by the argument “laws only effect people who follow them. criminals don’t follow laws duuurrr”. I don’t know how anyone can make this argument with a straight face. Since criminals don’t follow laws we should just get rid of all laws right? Its not like the criminals will follow them! Even if they get guns by stealing or buying them illegally the laws are there so we can prosecute offenders and make it more difficult for them to get the guns in the first place.
Stealing guns is a whole other hilarious issue. Having to steal a gun would put another road block in the criminal’s path on their road to murder. And you gun nut’s are always going on about how you can use your guns to stop crime right? I guess you are just shitty at that as well.
As for background checks, again it will make it more difficult for criminals to get their guns easily. And I’m sick of all these stupid conspiracy theories that the government is going to use these laws to keep guns from ordinary non-criminals. You can still buy your over priced phallic extentions, it just might take you a little longer to get it. And remember kids, patience is a virtue.
Gun show loopholes are in fact a thing. I know people, several in fact, who have bought guns from gun shows with no background check whatsoever. The laws for this vary state by state and the majority of them do not require a background check for “private gun sales”. It is also very telling that if you google gun show loophole myth the vast majority of the websites with “information” and “proof” that the gunshow loophole isn’t true are all right wing, gun nut, libertarian, conspiracy , shit websites. Another quick googling of these so called facts on these website prove the majority of them half truths or outright lies. Who’s drinking the koolaid now?
The reason they are going after assault rifles seens to be pretty obvious to any sane person. We would like to take the “mass” out of mass shootings. I would like to live in a world where I don’t see headlines that say 10-30 people killed by gun toting psycho. Also thanks for pointing out that the majority of homocides are caused by handguns. That is good evidence that those should be more heavily regulated as well. Thanks for doing the research for us.
Maybe next time you guys want to sway people to your draconian and pointless opinions maybe you should actually use arguments that make sense.
Here are some good quotes from my republican coworker over the last week.
Talking about goverment pay: “Congress is underpaid. We need to pay them enough so that they will be less likely to take bribes. This will cut down on corruption in the government.”
When going out to lunch: “I’d really like to see businesses get rid of handicapped parking. I should be able to park werever I want. That’s my american dream.”
Upon hearing that the AP will no longer refer to immigrants as illegal: “oh are they gonna start calling them wetbacks now?”
“I’m simply saying you can get a work visa and you can get in the normal line. I’m not creating a new line for citizenship. I’m just saying you can get in the current line that exists. The only thing I’m saying is you don’t have to go home.”
To clarify, the Great Libertarian Hope Rand Paul’s position is that undocumented workers should be able to get some sort of work visa that allows them to live as second-class members of societies while they “get in the current line that exists.”
The problem? There is no general purpose line.
There is, however, a line for “family reunification.” If, for example, your brother is a U.S. citizen and you want to join him, you can wait in that line. If you’re coming from the Phillippines the line is about twenty-four years long.
Rand Paul’s plan to fix immigration doesn’t actually fix immigration.
On minimum wage: thats the dumbest thing I’ve ever heard. Do you really think people should be paid that much to flip a burger?! And who would want to have to pay a retard that much? They don’t do shit.

I really can’t believe some of the things I hear come out of my libertarian friends and coworkers mouths and see posted by them on the internet. Just the level of crazy that goes on in their brains is mind blowing.
One of the things I’m talking about is shit that comes out of one of my coworker’s mouth. He seems to believe 100% every conspiracy theory he has ever heard. Some of the things he has told me that all the people committing these shootings lately have been mind controlled by the government in an effort to stimulate reasons to pass gun control laws. He also doesn’t believe in climate change but instead believes the government has created some sort of weather control device. He. thinks that in the future this device will be used to disperse chemicals over large areas for population control purposes.
And then the other day we were sitting in the break room at the same time and the news was on and Gabrielle Giffords was talking about control. He just watched for a little bit and then said to everyone in the room, “I wish someone would shoot her again.” Who fucking says shit like that? And now I recently found out he owns about 25 different guns and stockpiles ammo. This guy is a maniac. And he is not the only one of these people I know!
And then these other gun nut libertarians that I have on my facebook have been posting non stop stupid shit about guns ever since the gun control debate started. The majority of it are stupid images with false equivalency arguments. Like, “more people are killed by kitchen knives than guns, we should ban kitchen knives”. No, you idiot, that is a stupid argument. Kitchen knives are made to cut food in the kitchen, guns are made to kill things.
And then they make these stupid fucking arguments about how they need their guns to protect themselves from the government if a tyrannical leader tries to take over. Good luck with that champ, we will see how well you do with your AR-15 against a drone or a tank if that happens.
I am just getting sick of it. Fuck you Ayn Rand for what you started.
